Green manufacturing and sustainability practices at MPL Fabrications

MPL Fabrications' Commitment To Green Manufacturing

Every business has a responsibility to consider energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint. Here at MPL Fabrications, we're committed to doing our part to achieve carbon neutrality.

Taking Action for a Greener Future

In late 2021, we participated in the Warwickshire Green Business Programme and commissioned a resource energy efficiency report. The audit team identified several opportunities to make our factory operations more sustainable.

Energy-Saving Measures:
  • De-stratification Fans work alongside our existing heating system, minimising cold air ingress and pushing warm air downwards. This has resulted in an estimated annual saving of £1,300 on energy bills and 5.1 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
  • Upgrading six single-glazed windows to double-glazed windows in our workshop has demonstrably improved efficiency. We estimate a reduction of 3.31 tonnes of CO2 emissions and annual energy cost savings of around £850.
  • Replacing our old, uninsulated, slow-opening door with new rapid-closure shutter doors has significantly reduced heat loss. This translates to an estimated annual saving of £600 on energy bills and 2.3 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Investing in Sustainable Equipment:

Over the past three years, MPL Fabrications has made significant investments in modernising our machinery. These upgrades not only improve efficiency but also reduce waste and energy consumption:

These new machines offer:
  • Increased efficiency, leading to reduced usage.
  • Significantly less waste and need for repairs.
  • Lower oil consumption.

Electrification and Recycling:

We've further bolstered our green credentials by switching from a gas-powered forklift to a fully electric Toyota Triago model. Additionally, we ensure all our metal waste is recycled every month.

MPL Fabrications is dedicated to sustainable manufacturing practices. We're continuously seeking new ways to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a greener future.
